As a school our top priority is to create a safe and nurturing environment for every child. Through our safeguarding policies and practices, we aim to protect our students from harm and ensure they have the confidence to learn, thrive, and grow. Every child's well-being and safety are at the heart of everything we do.

Cyril Jackson Primary School follows the procedures outlined by the Tower Hamlets Local Safeguarding Children Board - a guide to procedure and practice for all professional staff in Tower Hamlets who work with children.

More Safeguarding Information

Managing disclosures

If any student discloses that they are thinking of harming themselves, others or if someone is harming them, the safeguarding team must be notified immediately.

Confidentiality

If a child shares sensitive information, our staff are trained to handle it with utmost care, discretion and transparency. They will discuss confidentiality and its limits with the child.

If there's a concern about harm or safety, the child will be informed first if that confidentiality may need be broken, to make sure they get the right help and support.

In some cases, if there are deeper child protection concerns, you might not be directly informed, but our DSL Hodo Dirir and the school safeguarding team will be alerted through CPOMs.

Online Safety

We recognise the importance of online safety in today's digital age. We encourage parents to be proactive in ensuring their child's safety online. Taking steps to enable children to make the safe choices. This could include discussion around the content they watch, apps they use, time they spend on devices or if/who they are talking to others online. Domestic Abuse
